Wow, six weeks since the last blog entry - that is not good internet etiquette. Sorry about that - we know there are a lot of people on the edge of their seats waiting for our blog updates - it's tough being a fan of Souls Rest we know.
Anyway - we've had kind of a busy time recently, DJ Philamonic had a last minute vacation back to the homeland (England) to visit some family and friends and have a break and as soon as he got back A.son went back to England too, mostly to celebrate the Queen's jubilee. He's a huge royalist. He had a great time buying Queen merchandise over there - we're particularly fond of the Queen's head pillowcases he got - they look great.
So, with those trips away the production of music has been a little disrupted but know that we have been working hard and did release a new song 'The Catalyst' a few weeks ago. If you haven't heard it yet click here and check it out. We have also had a couple of gigs too - we played at Historymaker12 in Abbotsford, then in Delta at the Watershed Arts fair and more recently we rocked with some friends of ours in a chaotic but dope unrehearsed group set at the Easter Seals 24hr relay at Swanguard Stadium - 3DJs and 7MCs going for it off the cuff - that was a lot of fun, shoutout to our man Estea-Elements for organising that. Last weekend we also did a showcase at MoreThan12 in East Van which was just an awesome time all round.
The exciting news right now is that we are working on a new album to be released at the end of the summer; this is exciting as it will be our first physical release since we became a trio so we're super pumped to get it out there and share it with you guys! We've had two awesome guest musicians in the studio just this week, first was the amazing Jim Bugg who blew us away with some amazing saxophone - he came in and straight up killed it! What a talented man. Secondly we had our good friend James Nepturne Molnar in last night laying down sick grooves on the drums. We worked James hard and he delivered some straight up groove - so good and so funky. We're excited to include some live drums on the new album.
Anyway that's what we're up to, we're performing this sunday (June 24th) at the Richmond Night Market which should be a blast - can't wait to try some interesting foods while we're there - we should be onstage around 9pm so come on down, pick up some bargains and check us out! See ya there.
